After a much longer wait than expected the Language of Light / Cortez split 12" vinyl is finally available. It's an honor to share a record with Scott Cortez, of lovesliescrushing, who has been a huge influence on me musically, and his side is absolutely beautiful. Currently available at www.anticlock.net, other distribution coming soon.
CTRL will be performing on Friday July 17th at Elysium, it's been almost a year but finally the stars have aligned to perform live with them again. Very excited about this.
Collaboration with Alan Trench is going really well. We've been sending files back and forth and we've (Language of Light) managed to mangle what he sent us fairly successfully...I hope he doesn't mind.
Staying very busy these days. Rebecca and I have been working diligently on the house in Stillwater, driving to Austin twice a month to visit my son, non stop musical projects, and getting a new body of visual work together for a show in the near future.
...back to work. |

Hello all.
We wanted to let you all know that we will regretfully be canceling our SXSW show on Friday March 20th. Earlier this week Brad was in an accident between a truck and his bike. Unfortunately it seems that some people behind the wheel of trucks in this city do not pay attention to others.
No worries though...Brad will be alright. Besides a few sprains as well as some bumps and bruises, no other damage was done to our man of steel.
CTRL will be back in action, on stage, next month alongside Funker Vogt in Austin, Tx on April 23rd.
We shall see you all soon! --The Lads of CTRL |

| » vinyl off to press... |
Now that its off to press and out of my hands I don't feel like I'll jinx it...at least not too badly. This next release is exciting not only because it's a 12" vinyl but also who appears on the other side. Bear with me while I ramble on cause I'm pretty damn excited about this...
In 1993 a friend of mine ran a zine reviewing mostly goth/industrial with "other" mixed in once in a while. At that time a budding label, projekt, had just signed on lovesliescrushing and sent a promo to my friend for review. I was heavy into my bloody valentine, loveless had just been released, cocteau twins and other ethereal guitar music so this latest cd in the same vein was handed off to me. I instantly fell in love with it. Lovesliescrushing-blowneyelashwish had the wall of sound of my bloody valentine, the beauty of cocteau twins at their best but even more, they broke free past a point that neither one ever reached sonically. For me it was an album I listened to over and over and never got tired of. It was the soundtrack for many paintings, road trips, etc. After that a number of years went by where I didn't really pay much attention to or do music or much art at all. In the late 90s I started my first programming gig and like many other developers had my headphones on most of the day. A co-worker who had similar tastes would loan me out cds and catch me up on what I had missed, sure enough one of the cds he lent me was lovesliescrushing. It was as brilliant and new as it was the first time I heard it...I was inspired. That album was a catalyst for a personal artistic renaissance. I started drawing again, bought a guitar (since I had lost the one I had), and shortly after purchased an inexpensive 4 track. When I started ethedrone a couple years later it was my intent to put out a compilation and since lovesliescrushing had been such an influence I contacted Scott Cortez, who had done a number of other projects since, to see if he would be willing to contribute. One thing after another, and even though ethedrone has since gone on to release over 20 cds, the initial compilation never happened. Years went by, painting took precedence. This past year Rebecca and I started the project Language of Light and decided to contact musician that were influential to us and see if they'd be interested in doing split vinyl. The first was released last year with amazing folk musician Timothy Renner and his project Crow Tongue. I'm very happy to say I again contacted Scott if he'd be interested and he was all for it. The song for his side is absolutely beautiful, totally reinforcing the respect and awe I have for him as a musician/sound sculptor. I can't say enough how completely psyched I am about this...it's a feeling of things coming full circle...yup...I'm jumping up and down in my head at this moment.

Many things happening ...some coming to fruition....
CTRL show and cd single CTRL will be performing on Friday Aug 15th at Elysium Nightclub in Austin Texas. This will be the official release of the new CD single with remixes by Assemblage 23, XP8, Iris, Caustic and CTRL. Copies of the single will be available at the show in special edition packaging. I'm very excited about this show and release and very happy with the remixes. It's been a blast and honor to be part of this project. The soon to follow 5th CTRL full length (first for me) 'Lost In Static' is soon to follow. It's been 2 years in the making and well worth all the time invested. A couple songs are posted on the myspace page.

inalonelyplace - 'distant echos' For years I've had another project called inalonelyplace, the name comes from a Humphrey Bogart film and I'll admit it...I got it from the ending credits of 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid'. Between 2002 and early 2003 I recorded allot of material but never did anything with it. Over the years I kept considering it but there were always other things to do. I'm very pleased the Italian tape label, yes thats tape as in cassette, Best Kept Secret is putting out my 9th release as this project, 'distant echos'.

Don't skimp out on the 6th street salsa, seriously, it brings all the flavors together. If you like spicy foods you've got to make this.
